SEO Tips for Holistic Health + Beauty Brands
4 minute read
You can have amazing holistic health or beauty products and services, but if no one can find you then it’s all for naught. It’s like looking for that one last grain of vegan, gluten free, sugar free cereal in a steep bowl of coconut milk. This can be an incredibly frustrating experience.
The good news is there’s Search Engine Optimization (also known as SEO), which can save your business. While it’s important to promote your brand and create digital marketing strategies, so is search. And it’s something you want to think about even before you raise brand awareness…
Because if done correctly it can market your business for you.
What Is SEO?
Have you ever done a Google search to look for something? Well, about 8.5 billion other Google searches have also been made. And some of those people doing the search had no clue what they were looking for, but somehow found it.
What’s their secret?
Let’s say you were looking for Vessi sneakers, but you didn’t know the name. What many people do, and you may do as well is type a descriptive about the sneakers. For example, “Vegan cruelty free sneakers with a V”.
It’s like doing a brain dump in a search bar and Google miraculously pulls up what you were looking for. This is organic, unpaid traffic — zero ad spend needed. SEO does a great job of making your website more visible and boosting its rank in the search engine results.
And this is how a Google or Bing search can work in your favor to drive more traffic to your site.
But there is more info that’s needed to ensure results.
4 components of SEO that allows you to rank higher:
· Optimizing your content
· Keywords
· Meta tags
· Website layout
Why aren’t many holistic health and beauty brands incorporating SEO?
· It’s not viewed as a necessity
· The focus is on content creation
· It can be complex
· It’s not exciting
SEO Tips for Holistic Health + Beauty Brands
Here’s some of my SEO tips for holistic health and beauty brands:
Website Setup
When optimizing your website for SEO you want to gear your focus towards on-page and technical. With on-page SEO the goal is to make your content clear as possible and that you’re using the correct format. The technical SEO allows people to find, crawl, and index your content. Using the correct keywords will help you show up in the search.
Target Keywords
How do you know what key words to use? Look for keywords within your niche that people are looking for. Now, you don’t want to use the most popular keywords. Focus on the least competitive ones that your audience is also searching for. Then figure out what their intent is.
Once you find that you can create your target keywords. A target keyword is the main keyword that describes the focus or topic of your page.
Use it in these three places:
· Title tag – accurately describe the page’s content. Be clear and concise in your description.
· Heading – include it in your header.
· URL – use the target in the URL.
This demonstrates to searchers that your page offers what they are looking for.
Think Like Your Customer
Carve out time to do research on how your customer thinks. Getting to know your customer inside and out is crucial for attracting them. So, search for the words that your customer will look up. If they search, “Magnesium”, then include that in your product title, content, and descriptions.
You may have the most brilliant name for a product or service but avoid naming it that way if it isn’t what your potential customer wants.
Display Your Expertise
Create content for your site that displays your expertise, authority, and experience. Google values this and it shows that you are trustworthy. Using original data insights and quotes can help you rank.
