How To Use Essential Oils in Your Makeup and Skincare Products
10 minute read
Putting essential oils in your makeup and skincare products can heal the body. People all over the world look for makeup and skincare to solve their problems. And as a business owner it’s your job to find solutions to those. Now, you may be asking, “What kind of problems do they have?”
Well, when it comes to makeup and skincare it’s common for people to want to enhance their beauty and get clear skin…
But for many they’re looking for products that help them with acne, dark eye circles, oily skin, dry skin, varicose veins, and the list goes on.
While many companies are familiar with collagen, vitamin c, retinol, caprylyl glycol, calcium chloride, triglycerides … they’re not familiar with the power of essential oils.
And this is wonderful news for you because this sets you apart from other businesses and gives you a unique avant garde edge.
But all essential oils aren’t made equal.
Some of them contain synthetic and toxic materials so it’s important to choose the right essential oils for your products.

Choosing the Right Essential Oils
When it comes to choosing the right essential oil, you want to make sure they don’t contain synthetic and toxic materials. They should be Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade.
And for an oil to be labeled CPTG they must be:
Pure and natural, with aromatic compounds carefully extracted from plants
Free from fillers or artificial ingredients; no dilution of active qualities
Free of contaminants, pesticides, or chemical residues
Rigorously tested for standards of chemical composition
Cross tested using mass spectrometry and gas chromatography to ensure exact purity and composition potency
Sourced by a global network of leading essential oil chemists and growers to ensure correct species, growth in ideal environments, and that raw plant materials were carefully harvested at the right time
It is crucial to look for essential oils with this label because without it you can potentially put your client’s health at risk. How can this happen? Well, your potential client can have an allergic reaction, an adverse reaction, or not get the health benefit that you’re advertising.
False advertisement is bad for business and eliminates trust…
But when you use essential oils that are backed by science, third party tested, food grade, and are free from all the said junk listed above, you can’t go wrong.
The only essential oils that I know check off all the boxes are from doTERRA. People across the globe rave about them because of their astounding properties and benefits.

Healing Properties
Consider adding essential oils to all your products because their healing properties would boost your sales. Many people are settling because they are currently purchasing from companies that they are “used to”.
And looking at makeup and skincare as a “mundane routine.”
They don’t look at them as having the capability to heal the body.
Therefore, so many people go get Botox, fillers, and injections.
What if you chose your ideal client who looks for beauty to heal them?
This would also work great in your marketing messages.
People would buy from you …and that’s what you want to see happen. Have you ever seen a video of someone who has cystic acne? They’ve tried Proactiv, Accutane, and more to no avail.
It’s a frustrating and painful experience for them. Some stories are heart wrenching, especially when they share how their self-esteem was impacted negatively.
Have you seen a woman who hides her dark circles with makeup?
She’s constantly using the makeup as a coverup but has had the dark circles forever. What if you added essential oils that heal dark circles to your makeup?
Talk about a homerun!
Essential oils can seep into the bloodstream permeate the cellular wall, which means that whatever oil you use can easily provide the benefits your client is looking for.
For example, Lavender is known to get rid of scarring and burns…so when it enters the cells it can remove those. Yarrow Pom helps with dark eye circles and promotes clear skin.
There are many essential oils that can help with a variety of skin issues, but you can think about adding these to your makeup and skincare products.

Adding Essential Oils to Products
Most makeup and skincare products contain minerals, water, fruit extracts, skin conditioning agents’ emollients, emulsifiers, and binders. It’s up to you to decide how you want to create it and the purpose it serves. But if you’re wanting to add essential oils to products then you need to have a carrier oil.
A common carrier oil found in makeup is jojoba oil. It naturally dilutes the essential oil but doesn’t change its potency or healing properties. As a business owner it’s key to research how many drops of essential oils you will need and the ratio of that to the carrier oil.
A common carrier oil found in skincare is coconut, almond, and sunflower oils. Sunflower oil is horrible for your health as it causes inflammation. It can also cause an allergic reaction so I would refrain. You will need to research the essential oil to carrier oil ratio as well.

Enhancing Beauty Holistically
The beautiful thing about essential oils is that they are adaptogenic. They can recognize where you’re having outward skin issues and internal problems that are creating them. Essential oils can also pick up on what level you’re at on a mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual level.
For example, let’s say you sold a facial toner made with Blue Tansy…
It would correct the skin discoloration and bring a sense of calmness to you mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
I’ll never forget when I premiered my skincare line at Artists & Fleas SoHo back in 2018.
I worked there on Saturday and Sunday from 11 am – 8 pm and a client came to my table. She was looking for solutions for her varicose veins, so I guided on what give her the transformation she wanted. Within not even 5 minutes she said, “I feel great. My depression is gone.”
I smiled at her with joy in my eyes. There was another client who purchased products from me and loved them. The skincare line was made from scratch with doTERRA’s essential oils, and I added in the oil amount to each product using my intuition. Everyone loved the products.
You certainly don’t have to have intuition to create great products, but if you want to add that “ABRACADABRA sprinkle” to your makeup and skincare to take it to the next level you can hire me as a creative consultant.
Take the blemishes away from the face…
AND their mind, body, spirit, and soul with these gems in a bottle.
You will be a leader in the makeup and beauty industry when you add some drops of hope in your products and your potential clients will be addicted. I’ve seen it firsthand, and you can too. These essential oils are not sold in stores.
Creating a membership and special ordering them on doTERRA’s site is the best way to get your hands on these magical gifts to the earth. And if you’re wondering how to obtain these you can contact me. I’ll get you going and growing your holistic health and beauty business.
